The ongoing uncertainty surrounding Manchester United’s ownership situation is proving very unhelpful for their summer transfer business. Now, Fabrizio Romano has stated that Jude Bellingham is set to join Spanish giants Real Madrid, with “personal terms agreed” and the deal now at its “final stages.
This comes after reports as recently as this month claiming that United still held an interest in the young Englishman and even had an advantage over their competition for his signature. Now, though, it looks almost certain that he will be playing his football in the Spanish Capital next campaign.

United Snubbed by Jude Bellingham Once Again
In his report, Romano states that while, out of respect for Borussia Dortmund’s title race – which ended in heartbreak, the £87 million deal was never going to be signed this week, it is very close to completion, and key contacts are expected in the next few days. Although this can give some hope to United fans with the deal not quite sealed yet, it is virtually done, and they will feel a sense of Deja Vu after a similar situation three years ago.

When Bellingham joined Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2020, it came after a drawn-out race for his signature where United had been firmly in the running. He was given a tour of the Red Devils’ training complex and even met legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson, but ended up choosing a move to Germany over Old Trafford.
Now, in 2023, the 19-year-old will likely once again choose not to join a club in his native England, instead opting for a move to Spain and Real Madrid.
