Reports have also surfaced in Lisbon during the last few days, with Correio da Manha publishing that the French giants have agreed to pay the £52 million release clause, all be it with different payment terms, to sign the Uruguayan international. Chelsea have struggled in midfield this season, with N’Golo Kante missing much of the season through injury. Graham Potter and Frank Lampard have struggled to find a settled midfield this season. Ugarte loves a tackle and would bring a welcome steeliness to Chelsea and would provide toughness to a Paris Saint-Germain team determined for Champions League glory. The Uruguayan international is adept at retaining possession, using his physicality effectively. According to Romano, Chelsea are very much in the race with the French giants to sign Ugarte.
