Manchester United have been told to get rid of striker Anthony Martial in the summer after their 1-0 win over Bournemouth. This comes amid reports that the Red Devils are pushing to sign a new no.9 to improve their attack next season.
Manchester United Urged to Sell Anthony Martial
What Did Dwight Yorke Say About Martial?
The French striker had a frustrating outing in the win over Bournemouth, as he failed to contribute to a goal and cut a frustrated figure after being substituted in the second half. Martial reportedly went straight back to the dressing room after being taken off rather than joining his teammates in the dugout.

After this, Manchester United legend Dwight Yorke – who was part of their treble-winning squad in 1999, has urged his former side to sell Martial. He told Lord Ping: “Martial has been here for seven years now, he’s looked good in spells and was very promising. But you can’t be going on loan at the age of 26 or 27, that’s for people who are 21 years old or younger.
“Once Martial went on loan, that should have indicated that his time is done at the club, like how it did when Jesse Lingard went on loan. When you go on loan and come back, you don’t come back the same, not at that age. (Jadon Sancho) Sancho is lacking pace and belief in his ability, he needs to be a bit more direct. There was a big investment and Manchester United needed big performances from both of those players, but if you can’t perform then you need to try your luck somewhere else.”

Martial had endured his share of issues in his first season under Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford. He’s suffered from a number of injury issues that have held him back from being a regular starter for the Red Devils under the Dutch coach.

He’s made just 27 appearances across all competitions, but has a decent record of having scored eight goals and providing three assists in those outings. Martial was hailed as the ‘best finisher’ in the squad by Ten Hag earlier this season, but it doesn’t appear that he has a long future as the no.1 striker option at Old Trafford – with the Red Devils being linked to strikers like Harry Kane and Randal Kolo Muani.
