It appears that they’ve sealed the signing of Paez and have beaten the likes of Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund in the pursuit of the Ecuadorian youngster. A director from Independiente del Valle said: “Today, I can say that Kendry Páez will be a Chelsea player in 2025. We received bids from Man United and Borussia Dortmund, but Chelsea showed super interest.”

As part of the new Premier League rules, Chelsea can only officially add Paez to their squad in 2025 – once he becomes an adult. That means the 16-year-old will need to spend the next two years at another club, seemingly at Independiente del Valle.

Chelsea Keep Adding Promising Young Talents to Their Squad

Chelsea have heavily invested in signing young talents ever since the new owners took over. Last summer, they signed promising players like Cesare Casadei from Inter Milan as well as Carney Chukwuemeka from Aston Villa. A few months ago, they also announced the signing of Brazilian youngster Andrey Santos – before loaning him back to Vasco da Gama.

After extensively scouting the Ecuadorian midfielder, they pushed to sign him. Paez, who has been described as “special” normally operates as a centre-midfielder or attacking midfielder – but can also play on the wings as well. He’s started for Ecuador’s U-17 team as well, scoring five goals in 13 appearances for them in competitive games. The 16-year-old will probably be focused on further developing his skills and arriving at Stamford Bridge as the entire package so that he can be a part of the first-team squad immediately after he signs in 2025.
