Chelsea Managerial Announcement to Come In ‘Due Course’

Frank Lampard has been in charge of Chelsea for the majority of the time after Potter’s sacking, with Bruno Saltor taking over for a brief period as well earlier this season. The Englishman has only been able to win one of his seven games in charge during his stint, which came in Chelsea’s win over Bournemouth recently.

Ornstein adds that Chelsea sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart have been holding a comprehensive search over the perfect candidate to take over from next season, and a final decision over who takes over will come in due course.

Moreover, Lampard will be staying in his role as interim manager for the final four games of the Premier League season. Ornstein adds that the Englishman will collaborate with the new manager before they take over the club in the summer.

Mauricio Pochettino Remains Favorite for Chelsea Manager Role

It’s also claimed that Pochettino is the outright favourite to be appointed as the new Chelsea manager. This comes after it was reported that Julian Nagelsmann rejected the Blues after being approached by them following his firing from Bayern Munich.

Pochettino left his role as Paris Saint-Germain manager last year after having helped them win the Ligue 1 title. His claim to fame came at Tottenham Hotspur, where he helped compete strongly in the Premier League top-four race for many seasons and even guided them to the UEFA Champions League final in 2019. Chelsea are also reportedly expected to have a busy summer transfer window as they aim to fix the weak areas of their squad and make it as strong as possible for the new manager to take them forward.
