Frank Lampard returns to the dugout at Stamford Bridge for the first time as interim coach. This is the Chelsea predicted lineup for his first match in charge which comes against Wolverhampton Wanderers, what changes will Lampard make? Let’s find out.
Chelsea Predicted Lineup vs Wolverhampton Wanderers in Premier League
How Chelsea Have Lined Up Recently
Injuries aside the starting lineup has been relatively settled in recent times. Kai Havertz and Joao Felix are guaranteed to feature in the offence while Enzo Fernandez and Mateo Kovacic are the first-choice midfield pairing in the centre.
Reece James and Ben Chilwell have been standouts at wing-back while Kalidou Koulibaly and Marc Cucurella have featured a lot at centre back. Kepa Arrizabalaga has been unchallenged as the top goalkeeper with Edouard Mendy’s recent injury.
Chelsea Recent Form and Tactics
The return of the 3-4-3 saw results get better than the 4-2-3-1 but it wasn’t enough to save Graham Potter’s job. Under Bruno Saltor in midweek the formation resembled something like a 3-5-2/5-3-1-1 as the Blues dominated against Liverpool but couldn’t grab a goal.

Lampard may stick with a 3-4-3 setup for his team as he utilised the 3-4-2-1 towards the end of his tenure at Everton so the back three is likely here to stay.
Chelsea Absences to Consider
According to Premierinjuries, there are only four players unavailable for this game, three of which have been out for some time now. Thiago Silva is still unavailable, as is fellow veteran Cesar Azpilicueta which has hurt the defence to some degree. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Armando Broja are both still out which leaves the team with just one starting striker.
