The managerial merry-go-round that marred much of the Roman Abramovich era appears to have returned under the Clearlake ownership. The sacking of Graham Potter marks the Blues’ second managerial dismissal this season after the departure of Thomas Tuchel earlier this season. Nagelsmann was recently fired by Bayern Munich and replaced by ex-Chelsea boss Tuchel.
Where It Went Wrong for Graham Potter
Potter has an obscene amount of talent at his disposal – with the club spending big during the January transfer window. Results since the mid-season splurge have been poor, with arguably only the showing at home to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League being a high point.

A manager of his status has seemingly failed to assert himself on this expensively assembled squad. Back in September, The Athletic released an article outlining that Potter will have to balance the Stamford Bridge egos and prove himself to elite players. Looking at the results, winning only 12 of 31 matches in charge suggests he failed to establish himself.
What Comes Next at Stamford Bridge?
With Potter gone and the search for a new manager underway, Bruno Saltor will take charge of the team as Interim Head Coach. It’s unclear when a decision on a new manager will take place. But according to early reports, Nagelsmann is well thought of at Chelsea and could be the next manager in the Stamford Bridge hot seat.
