N’Golo Kante Nearing New Chelsea Contract
Kante’s Desire to Stay Crucial to Talks
Romano had previously reported that Kante’s priority was always to stay at Chelsea. The World Cup winner has been waiting for months on an extension, but an agreement is now described as very close.

Kante has won six pieces of silverware during his trophy-laden stint in West London. He had attracted interest from a host of European clubs, but Romano labelled his affection for Chelsea as a key factor during the negotiations. The only detail yet to be finalised is the length of the new contract.
Kante’s Illustrious Chelsea Journey So Far
The midfielder joined the Blues in the summer of 2016 after his historic title win with Leicester City. The 31-year-old then made 35 league appearances in his first season to secure back-to-back English titles with different clubs. Domestically, Kante added an FA Cup the following year, before the beginning of Chelsea’s European and International supremacy.

Since then, he has won the Europa League, Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, as well as being named man of the match in Chelsea’s Champions League final victory over Manchester City in 2021.
Due to a hamstring injury in the second game of the season against Tottenham Hotspurs, Kante has been restricted to only two league appearances in this campaign. The Blues have struggled in his absence and have only won a handful of games since appointing Graham Potter. They languish in 10th and the return of a proven winner will be a positive note in a largely negative season.
