Manchester City ‘Appreciate’ Ben Chilwell Quality Despite Injury History at Chelsea
Chilwelll has struggled to solidify his starting spot at Stamford Bridge as a result of his concerning injury history. Despite that, Romano adds that City appreciates the quality of the Englishman and have included him in their transfer wishlist for the summer.
Romano told CaughtOffside: “Ben Chilwell is one of the players who has been appreciated by Manchester City for years. For sure he’s one of the LB [left-back] to consider, but I’m told not the only one. They will have a shortlist of players in that position and will decide how to proceed together with Pep in May/June.”

So it appears that Chilwell might not be the only left-back that is being tracked by the Citizens ahead of the summer transfer window. Pep Guardiola’s side received a major blow recently as the Premier League charged them over multiple financial breaches and it will be interesting to see if that affects any transfer plans the club may have moving forward.
Chilwell Struggling to Consolidate Permanent Chelsea Role
After making a positive impact at Leicester City, Chilwell earned a big-money move to Chelsea in 2020 and hoped to make a major impact at Stamford Bridge. However, he has been held back by injury problems, not allowing him to put together a run of form or earn a permanent starting role with the Blues.

In three seasons with them, he has only made 69 appearances for the London side – providing 10 assists and scoring eight goals. That includes 15 appearances this season, prior to which Chelsea signed Marc Cucurella from Brighton to improve their number of options at left-back. Chilwell, who reportedly earns a £190,000 weekly salary at Stamford Bridge, returned from injury in the Blues’ 0-0 draw against Fulham last week and will hope to end the season strongly.
