AS Roma Ready to Offload Nicolo Zaniolo Amid Spurs Interest
The 23-year-old winger was not included in AS Roma’s squad for their Serie A game against Spezia on Sunday, further intensifying speculations over his future. Jacobs adds that Jose Mourinho is now happy to let him leave after resisting Tottenham’s interest in the summer and that there is also an urgency in offloading the winger.
Spurs are yet to sign a player in the winter transfer window, but back-to-back losses in the Premier League appear to have accelerated their transfer pursuit. They are reported to be interested in making three January signings, with the one for Zaniolo being one of them. Jacobs states that it now looks very possible that the winger will be a new player for the Lilywhites before the January window ends.

Roma ideally want to sell him permanently for around £30 million or a loan with an obligation to buy in the summer. Spurs are pushing for the latter option, but are yet to make any real progress in negotiations. Jacobs adds that they held meetings with Roma over a possible move for the winger in July too, but Roma demanded £40 million then and did not want to let him leave.
Antonio Conte Has Big Plans for Zaniolo
It is also added that Antonio Conte is a fan of the 23-year-old and believes he can be a very versatile player for his system in the Premier League. The Italian gaffer believes that Nicolo Zaniolo will add more creativity to his side and can even potentially play as a wing-back if needed.
