Leeds United Predicted Lineup vs Manchester City

How Leeds United Have Lined-up Recently

The Yorkshire side tend to line up with Illan Meslier at the back, sitting behind two centre-backs. With everyone at full fitness, this pairing features Robin Koch on the right and Liam Cooper on the left. Rasmus Kristensen plays at right-back with Pascal Struijk out of position on the opposite flank.

A midfield pair of Marc Roca and Tyler Adams screen the back line from any major threats. Meanwhile, an attacking line of three (when fully fit) involves Jack Harrison, Brenden Aaronson and Luis Sinisterra creating opportunities for a centre-forward, either Patrick Bamford or Rodrigo.

Leeds United Recent Form and Tactics

Leeds United’s recent form has been highly complex. Before the World Cup break, the Whites were involved in a series of tense matches against Liverpool, Bournemouth and Tottenham Hotspur, taking six points from the nine available. Pre-return friendlies have been good for Leeds, with 2-1 wins over Real Sociedad and Elche before a 4-2 loss to AS Monaco.

A high press is a core tenet of the way that the Elland Road side play. Pressing in packs means that the front line isolates a player with the ball, winning possession and creating chances through chaos. This is how Brenden Aaronson scored the Yorkshire side’s first goal in a 3-0 rout against Chelsea. Jesse Marsch’s side has been far more effective against sides at the top of the table than those that sit back, so Manchester City could be the perfect opportunity.

Leeds United Injuries to Consider

The Whites have a few injuries to think about. Luis Sinisterra remains out with an injury to his foot, Tyler Adams is serving a suspension for this match and Stuart Dallas remains out of contention for selection after a horrific injury in this fixture last season.

The club also has a series of minor injuries to contend with. Patrick Bamford, Crysencio Summerville, Rodrigo, Lian Cooper and Jack Harrison are all contending with late fitness tests, whilst Illan Meslier is battling his way through glandular fever to get back into the team against City.
