Chelsea have held no negotiations with Leicester City over a deal for their midfielder Youri Tielemans in the January transfer window, claims Fabrizio Romano. The Blues are expected to be lively in the winter window as they aim to improve Graham Potter’s squad for the second half of the season.
Chelsea Yet to Negotiate Deal for Youri Tielemans
Chelsea aware of Tielemans’ value next year
Despite some rumours claiming that the London side might have already spoken to the Belgian midfielder over a move, they’re yet to properly sit down and talk to either the player of his club over a potential transfer. Todd Boehly’s side are well aware of how big an opportunity Tielemans will be in the market, especially as he’s likely to leave Leicester in the summer after his contract expires.

Romano indicates that Chelsea could soon change their stance on the midfielder and look to push for his signing in the January transfer window to improve their midfield line. He also claims that Tielemans would be “a great signing for any European club in general” and a potential bargain signing as a free agent.
Chelsea’s Future Transfer Plans Detailed
Potter seems to be more focused on signing a new striker in the January transfer window over anything else after losing Armando Broja to a season-ending injury. The Blues have already agreed a deal to sign RB Leipzig sensation Christopher Nkunku next summer, but there is a need for a natural centre-forward who can lead the line for Chelsea.
The London side aren’t really eager to sign Cristiano Ronaldo despite him being a free agent right now. They are reportedly chasing a move to sign Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid, with the Portuguese forward rumored to be put up for sale by the Spanish side.

Chelsea could be willing to add more new midfielders to their squad too. Jorginho and N’Golo Kante both have their current contracts expiring in the summer and are yet to sign new extensions. If both end up leaving, with Barcelona reportedly looking to sign the duo, then Potter will need new midfielders and having a creative, efficient one like Tielemans – who has scored 27 goals and provided 25 assists in 175 appearances for Leicester – can be exactly what he needs.
