Wolverhampton Wanderers Current Run of Form
Wolves have been dire throughout the start of this season. In a series of performances that have left the Midlands club languishing in 19th position in the league, the last five matches have seen losses to Brighton & Hove Albion, Leicester City and Crystal Palace. The only points have come through a scrappy 1-1 draw against Brentford and a very slim victory over Nottingham Forest.
Fans will hope that the club’s fortunes change with the signing of manager Julien Lopetegui, but there is no guarantee that such a radically different style of football can come in successfully in very little time.
Leeds United Current Run of Form
Leeds United have had a fairly complicated season so far. The Whites have been performing to an incredibly high standard against teams that play against them proactively, hence a victory against Liverpool recently, but struggled against more passive sides.
A victory over Bournemouth in the last minutes of the match will only spur the Elland Road side on, with late wizardry from Willy Gnonto and Crysencio Summerville making the difference. With squad rotation and youth players getting a chance, the Carabao Cup could be the perfect environment to carry this form on.
Recent Head to Head
Leeds narrowly come out on top in all-time head-to-heads, with performances fairly even in recent years. Wolves lost to a strong Yorkshire side early in the season, with a Rayan Ait-Nouri own goal making the difference after the Midlands side sought to hold on to a lead gained in the opening stages of the match.
This tends to be a low-scoring affair, but with Leeds United’s youngsters fit and firing and Wolves potentially transitioning away from extremely defensive football, we could be in for an interesting result.
Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Leeds United Prediction
Whilst Wolverhampton Wanderers are showing a few signs of improving out on the pitch, Jesse Marsch’s men have been fun to watch and have presented an interesting challenge so far this season. The difference-makers in the current Whites side are primarily second-string players and youngsters who could find some good fortune against a weakened Midlands side going through a tactical transition.
Current Odds: Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Leeds United
Wolves are odds-on favourites to win at 7/5, followed closely by a Leeds win at 2/1.
