Last season and this have been like night and day at the John Smith’s Stadium. Danny Schofield’s tenure got off to a rocky start, and he won’t get the chance to redeem himself. The Huddersfield Town manager has been dismissed after collating only four points from a possible 24.

Not the Most Successful Huddersfield Town Manager
Carlos Corberan hit dizzy heights as Huddersfield Town manager last year. The Terriers finished third under his stewardship before coming up short at Wembley, at the hands of Nottingham Forest. An off-season exodus ensued that not only saw Corberan depart but key duo Lewis O’Brien and Harry Toffolo left for Nottingham Forest amongst others.
Two-time caretaker boss Danny Schofield took on the mantle, being thrown in at the deep end for his first permanent job. Goals from Danny Ward and Jordan Rhodes added to a first-half strike from Yuta Nakayama in their only win of the season at the time of writing, a 3-1 win over Stoke City. Huddersfield’s only other point came from a battle of braces, Tino Anjorin at one end for Town and Jed Wallace at the other in the colours of West Bromwich Albion.
Steve Bruce is another manager under pressure but Schofield is the man to have lost his job. This isn’t the first passing of the torch in the Championship though. Alex Neil beat Stoke City as Sunderland manager, only to go on and replace Michael O’Neill at the Bet365 Stadium just days later.

Where Next For the Terriers?
Huddersfield were in EFL action recently and this proved to be the final straw in Schofield’s reign. Will Keane opened the scoring from the penalty spot for Wigan Athletic before Callum Lang struck the decisive blow in the final ten minutes, shortly after a Tom Lees equalizer. The question that arises now is regarding the next Huddersfield Town manager.
Narcis Pelach and Paul Harsley are set to take over for the weekend’s clash with Cardiff City. Beyond that, it remains to be seen who the likely contenders are, it is too early to say. Corberan was a magician in that Huddersfield technical area and whilst Schofield was unable to hit the same heights, the club clearly has potential and ambition.
