Predicting the Manchester United Lineup for the Leicester City Match

How Manchester United Have Lined-up Recently

Manchester United have been lining up consistently in a 4-2-3-1 formation. David de Gea is Erik ten Hag’s goalkeeper of choice, with the four centre-backs rotating in front of him. Current favourites are Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane, with Tyrell Malacia at left-back and Diogo Dalot on the right.

Scott McTominay, Fred, Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes rotate the three central midfield spots. In the last match, Jadon Sancho and Anthony Elanga played on the wings, with Rashford at centre-forward over Cristiano Ronaldo.

Manchester United Recent Form and Tactics

Tactically, the Red Devils are a club divided. Ten Hag demands aggression and pressing from his players, something that the squad initially struggled with. However, this seems to have turned around as of late. Against Liverpool, the Old Trafford side showed passion and pressing, and whilst this dropped off somewhat against Southampton it is still a promising sign.

In terms of team selection, there are a few options available. Casemiro is a recent arrival at Carrington, and he can provide a lot of solidity and ball progression from midfield. The Brazilian isn’t a magic bullet for United’s problems, but he is a strong foundation for some ongoing improvements.

Manchester United Injuries to Consider

The Old Trafford outfit has relatively few injuries at the moment. Some players, such as Facundo Pellistri, Brandon Williams and Victor Lindelof, have little chance of making the first team regardless of whether they are suffering an injury or not. All of these injuries seem relatively long-term.

However, the Red Devils have one injury that is more worrying for the squad. Anthony Martial is still out of action. As the club’s second striker behind Cristiano Ronaldo, losing Martial limits the Manchester United manager’s options significantly. Erik ten Hag has to work within tighter resource limits at the top of the pitch. New arrival Antony is unlikely to be registered in time.

Manchester United Lineup Prediction

David de Gea retains his position in goal, with Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane the perfect centre-back options for the high-speed attack of Southampton. Tyrell Malacia and Diogo Dalot retain their positions thanks to their high standards to date. Casemiro works as a destroyer in midfield alongside the more creative Christian Eriksen, with Bruno Fernandes retaining his place after scoring at Southampton. Leicester’s defenders face off against Jadon Sancho on the right and Anthony Elanga on the left, with Marcus Rashford starting up front. Cristiano Ronaldo does not return to the team.

Current Odds: Leicester City vs Manchester United

Manchester United are favourites for the win at 11/10, with Leicester the next most likely at 13/5. The draw is least likely at 3/1.
