Conversations Did Not Lead Up to Anything
Despite it being discreetly clear that he was looking to leave the Red Devils this summer, no prominent club has produced a negotiable offer for Ronaldo in the summer. Whitwell adds that a move to Saudi Arabia is the only option lying on the table for him after Al Hilal offered United a decent transfer fee and huge wages to convince the Portuguese star.

The 37-year-old was reportedly offered insane wages of over £200 million for a two-year deal, but he turned it down due to his insistence to keep on playing in Europe. Despite having conversations with the Saudi Arabian club, Ronaldo wasn’t convinced about the move and didn’t go deep into negotiations for it.
He tried offering himself to Premier League rivals Chelsea, but even they turned down the opportunity to sign the six-time Ballon d’Or winner. Ronaldo has had a poor start to the new season with the Red Devils, only starting one of their first four games and not being able to score a single goal so far.

Ronaldo Looks Set for United Stay After Summer Saga
Due to the lack of serious suitors for him, it seems like the 37-year-old forward is set to stay at Old Trafford for at least this season. United manager Erik ten Hag clarified his future in a recent press conference, insisting that he will not be going anywhere before deadline day as he needs ‘quality players’ in the squad to compete for trophies this season.

As it stands, Ronaldo will be staying put and playing in the UEFA Europa League for the first time in his career in the current campaign. He’ll also have to work hard to regain a permanent starting spot for himself in Ten Hag’s starting line-up after being resorted to the bench in recent games.
