‘There Is a Written Offer’: Manchester United Have Now Received Star’s Answer to £178k-a-Week Bid

Kevin Trapp

Manchester United recently made a bid to sign Kevin Trapp from Eintracht Frankfurt, with the reported salary on the table being in the region of £162,000-178,000 (€10-11 million per year). They have seen that offer rejected, though, and this came in a public statement from the goalkeeper. Trapp posted a message on Instagram in which he acknowledged their proposal, but stated his intention to stay with his current club.

German Goalkeeper Explains Reason Behind His Decision

After reports emerged that the Red Devils were looking to sign the 32-year-old goalkeeper, who has played for PSG in the past, he decided to address all the rumours himself. Trapp has hailed United as a “world-class club” and confirmed that he took time to think about the offer before coming to his decision.

But the German goalkeeper isn’t willing to leave Eintracht Frankfurt after winning the UEFA Europa League with them last season, guaranteeing them Champions League football this campaign.

Here is what Trapp wrote on his Instagram: “Dear fans, There have been a lot of reports of interest from Manchester United in the past few days. It is true that there is a written offer. Manchester United is a world-class club and the fact that I can deal with and think about such an offer, I hope everyone understands.

“Yesterday, however, I informed the person in charge of both clubs that I had chosen Eintracht. I have experienced unforgettable things here with Frankfurt and we made history together. The start to the season has been bumpy, but I have absolute faith in us. Yours, Kevin.”

United Ready to Look Into Other Goalkeeper Options

After being rejected by the Frankfurt keeper, the Manchester side have now turned their focus on other options as they scurry to sign a new goalkeeper before the end of the summer transfer window on September 1. The Red Devils are reportedly looking to sign Newcastle United keeper Martin Dubavka, who has lost his position in the team to Nick Pope this season.

After De Gea’s horrific showing against Brentford, Ten Hag has realized that he needs a solid backup option who can compete with the Spaniard and keep him on his toes. United are yet to keep a clean sheet this season and will be determined to improve their defensive record to get back in the top-4 battle.
