Solid Signing

Manager Hayes chimed in on the new signing: “We’ve been watching Johanna develop over the last 12-18 months and she has had an unbelievable season last year in Sweden.

The player herself also commented on the move: “I’m delighted to join this amazing club! I can’t wait to meet my new team-mates and staff and start working on our goals for the season.”

Where She Fits In

The Swedish international winger has some tough competition if she wants to have game time. The Blues are overloaded with attacking talent, especially in the wide areas which could limit Kaneryd’s playing time.

One thing that is becoming more important in the Women’s Super League is rotational depth. Now that the women’s champions league involves a group stage there are more high-profile games than ever in women’s football which means the top clubs need more depth than ever to compete on all fronts. The 25-year-old will likely be used off the bench or to rest key players but she has the experience and winning pedigree to help the team win games.
