Arsenal have announced a deal to sign versatile Manchester City full-back Oleksandr Zinchenko. The Ukraine international becomes the fifth signing of the transfer window so far for the Gunners.
The versatile left-sided player has played for City since June 2016 and made 128 appearances for the club before his departure.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta told arsenal.com: “We’re so happy Alex has joined us. He’s a player that I personally know really well and continued to follow him after my time at Manchester City. Alex is a high-quality player who will give us options and versatility”

Signing Spree
Zinchenko is the fifth new addition of the summer for Mikel Arteta’s side. He follows Gabriel Jesus out the door at the Etihad Stadium and joins other newcomers Marquinhos, Matt Turner, and Fabio Viera. A clear effort has been made to shore up the defence and add some firepower to the squad to improve the side.

The club are aiming to improve upon a fifth-place finish in the league last season in order to get back to Champions League football. With their competitors all strengthening these signings have been necessary.

Manchester City Line Up Replacement
While the 25-year-old offered a lot of versatility, his former team have not waited around to eye up a replacement. Pep Guardiola’s team are already reported by Fabrizio Romano to be showing keen interest in Marc Cucurella from Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Spanish player doesn’t offer the versatility that Zinchenko does but he is an excellent deputy for the left-back spot. Fabrizio Romano reports that the fee for the Ukrainian is in the region of £30 million (plus £2 million in add-ons) which could all be put towards signing his replacement.
