Aston Villa midfielder Ashley Young has signed a new one-year contract, the club have confirmed.
Young’s deal expired at the end of last season, but Villa have now tied him down to an additional year.
The former Manchester United player re-joined Villa last year having had a one-season spell with Serie A giants Inter Milan.

Released But Returns
Young appeared on Villa’s released list at the end of last season but the Shropshire Star reported last month that Villa were going to remain in discussions with the former England international over a new deal.
Villa manager Steven Gerrard was keen to retain Young’s experience in the side, and the 36-year-old also provides a lot of versatility.
Having featured predominantly on the left or right-wing during his career, Young found further success at left-back and left-wingback for both Manchester United and England during the latter stages of his time in both of those set-ups.
It was his form in that position that led to Gareth Southgate including him in the squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
It was reported earlier this morning by The Telegraph’s John Percy that Villa were close to agreeing an extension with Young.

Douglas Luiz Could Depart
In what could be a blow for Aston Villa, though, GOAL are reporting that AC Milan are in talks to sign Douglas Luiz for a fee of around £26 million.
The Brazilian midfielder has entered the final year of his contract at Villa Park and established himself as a top player across his three seasons since arriving from Manchester City.
Milan believe that they have a strong chance of completing the deal this summer, but could also discuss the possibility of signing him on a free transfer in January.
