Spanish football expert Alvaro Montero has weighed in on the ongoing Frenkie de Jong to Manchester United transfer saga in an interview with Sky Sports. Montero revealed that he believes De Jong will join the Red Devils this summer due primarily to the financial implications of the deal for Barcelona.
With United continuing their lengthy pursuit of the Dutch international, it is reassuring and exciting for fans to hear experts share positive news such as this.
“Frenkie de Jong Will Be a Manchester United Player” Says Football Insider

What Alvaro Montero Said
Montero gave his opinion on De Jong’s situation in a recent interview with Sky Sports.
He told Sky that the grounds he had for thinking United would end up landing their priority target were twofold: “The player knows that Erik Ten Hag wants [him], it’s his desire. Of course, it’s Manchester United who is knocking on your door, and it’s an amazing club, and it’s Premier League.”
The Spaniard continued, giving the second reason for his stance: “there is a problem, an economical one. It seems, and they believe this in FC Barcelona, that Frenkie de Jong is, maybe not the best player, but the player in the market with the most value, and the one [from whom] they can earn more money. We’re speaking about €70-80 million, which is a lot nowadays. So I will say it’s a huge possibility for Frenkie de Jong to leave the club”.
United Looking for a Midfielder
Manchester United are looking to sign a midfielder this summer.
The Red Devils need to replace the likes of Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic who will depart when their contracts expire this summer, leaving just Scott McTominay and Fred as the only two recognised central midfielders in Erik ten Hag‘s squad.

It remains to be seen whether De Jong will be landed by the Manchester side, but he is their number one priority this transfer window and could be something of a bargain with Barcelona needing to sell.
