Tottenham Target Fraser Forster as Back up for Hugo Lloris

Current Southampton goalkeeper Fraser Forster is nearing the end of his contract with the South Coast club. According to The Athletic, Tottenham Hotspur are looking for a back up for Hugo Lloris next season. Spurs are looking to strengthen their squad, and Forster fits the bill.

Although Spurs have had the services of Pierluigi Gollini this season, the Italian has not impressed enough in London, and is likely to head back to his parent club Atalanta in Serie A. Forster is a homegrown talent, which is attractive to Spurs. For a back up to Lloris the Englishman is the ideal candidate.
Southampton have not renewed the goalkeeper’s contract, and Forster has already said his goodbyes to the South Coast club. Forster will be available as a free transfer. Spurs are looking to secure the deal at the end of the current Premier League season.
Sam Johnstone
England International Sam Johnstone from West Bromwich Albion was rumoured to be joining Spurs, however, it now appears that Forster is the top target instead. With this switch, Johnstone could instead head to Manchester United for their campaign next year. Both ‘keepers will be available as free transfers.
Lloris has been the Spurs first choice keeper all season and has been with the North London club since 2012. A reliable back up with a proven record is what Spurs require. The club also want a homegrown player, and as an England International Forster brings that experience with him.
Forster will also relish the opportunity, as Spurs currently sit fourth in the Premier League, and therefore in a Champions League spot. Forster is a wise choice for Spurs if they have discounted Johnstone from West Brom.
