The future of Borussia Dortmund’s star man Erling Haaland has been up for discussion, and he is not short of potential suitors. Premier League leaders Manchester City are looking to fill their vacant number 9 spot and believe that the Borussia Dortmund striker may be the answer. The ever-reliable Fabrizio Romano has tweeted to let fans know that talks between both parties have been underway for weeks.
Manchester City and Erling Haaland Transfer Talks Ongoing
Erling Haaland Future is Unknown and Manchester City Are Looking To Pounce
For years to come, Erling Haaland will be a figurehead in the world of football and many clubs will be keeping their eye on him.
Most recently, Borrusia Dortmund’s director, Sebastian Kehl reported that he’s expecting Haaland to leave despite the lack of clarity. He told Sport1: “Erling Haaland deal? I think we will have clarity on Erling in the next week”, then confirms he’s now expecting Haaland to leave.
The combination of this and reports that Manchester City are keen to be the leaders for his signature makes it look more and more likely that we will see the Norwegian giant alongside the likes of Jack Grealish and Raheem Sterling next campaign.
How Erling Haaland Transfer Will Reward Manchester City
Haaland is one of the hottest prospects in world football: he is young, scores plenty of goals and possesses inhumane pace, strength and height. Manchester City are reportedly the leaders to get the goal-scoring machine in their ranks.
The Citizens often play without a traditional number 9 and often opt for an unconventional false 9 choice of Bernardo Silva, Phil Foden and Raheem Sterling to name a few.
Since Sergio Aguero’s departure, City have been forced to become more methodical due to their inability to defeat teams with a flurry of goals. Haaland in a light blue strip will solve that problem and allow City to return to a more expansive style of play. The addition of Haaland will give them a completely different dimension, and his goal-scoring numbers are something to note.
Manchester City will be able to trigger the release clause of Haaland’s contract, which will set them back approximately £63 million. He would easily become one of the league’s highest-paid players, thanks to his age and promising future ahead.
As the Premier League title seemingly heading back to the Etihad for the second season running, it’s inconceivable to think that silverware will continue to follow if the towering striker moves to the blue side of Manchester. Erling Haaland could be the answer to all of Pep Guardiola and Manchester City’s European difficulties.
