According to BBC Sport, a consortium led by LA Dodgers owner Todd Boehly is set to be named as the preferred bidder for Chelsea as their ownership saga goes on.

Todd Boehly is the current owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, a Major League Baseball team in the United States. Alongside him are Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss, British businessman Jonathan Goldstein, American PR executive Barbara Charone, and British journalist Daniel Finkelstein according to the BBC. The bid was made early in the process with the offer reportedly around £2.5 billion.

Chelsea has a renowned academy that can sustain them for a short time, but the long-term effects of an ownership switch could be costly to the transfer budget.
