Erik ten Hag Remains Focused on Ajax Silverware Despite Manchester United Interest
Manchester United: Great Club With Great Fans, Ten Hag Admits
In his interview with Sport1, Erik ten Hag was asked if he could confirm Manchester United’s interest in hiring him as their next permanent manager, to which he responded: “Everyone knows each other in the industry. There are always talks with representatives from other clubs, that’s normal.
“Manchester United is a great club with great fans. But I can only repeat myself: My full focus is completely on Ajax! We are already planning for the new season.”
Ten Hag also added that he remains very happy at his current club; “I’ve sat down with Ajax after every season so far. That will also be the case this time. I can say that Ajax and Erik ten Hag are very happy with each other at the moment.”
It’s well reported that with good relations between United and Ajax a switch wouldn’t be difficult and the compensation would be no problem for the English side.
Eight Cup Finals for Ajax
Ajax are leading the field for a third Eredivisie title under Ten Hag since he took over in 2017. They are two points clear of PSV Eindhoven having played an equal amount of games, so every game is going to be crucial and Ten Hag himself as described the remaining seven as ‘cup finals’ alongside their actual cup final v PSV in the KNVB Cup.
Whether this is the end of Ten Hag’s Ajax tenure remains to be seen but it has been one with plenty of silverware and the coach has made a big impression at the famous club.
