Torre Signs for Barcelona

Barcelona are not waiting for the summer window to open before they start making moves. The Catalan club have already made their intentions clear on Erling Haaland as well as Nouassir Mazraoui being a main target this upcoming window.

David Ornstein reports a signing the club have already made ahead of the window, Pablo Torre. According to Ornstein, the details are as follows: “Torre, the Racing Santander midfielder, will join for an initial €5 million that could hit €20 million on the back of very achievable bonuses”. Ornstein also reports: “His move follows a significant battle between Real Madrid and Barcelona for his signature.

“There was further interest from Premier League and Bundesliga sides”

Why Torre Chose Barcelona

There was outside interest from the likes of the Premier League, Bundesliga, and Real Madrid. It took something very personal for Torre to make his decision. Xavi made a call to the young player outlining a path to the first team. The pathway for young players and the direct interest from the manager made up Torre’s mind.

The case for Torre also hinged on some other first-team guarantees, a sticking point in the negotiations with Real Madrid. Ornstein added: “The player and his representatives sought assurances that a move would include first-team training and a first-team contract, even if he played initially for Real’s B team.” Real Madrid’s initial offer was for him to join the academy team, not the first team.

Torre will join Pedri, Gavi, and Fati as the headliners for the next generation of young talent at Barcelona. While he might not get first-team minutes right away with Barcelona announcing he will join the B side, the pathway is set up for him to make the jump.
