Mohamed Salah: No Intention of Accepting Current Liverpool Contract Offer

Mohamed Salah

Fabrizio Romano has reported an exclusive update on the contract situation of Liverpool star Mohamed Salah. Romano’s tweet on the situation states:

“Excl: Salah and his agent have no intention to accept current new contract bid from Liverpool. Talks have broken down since December, as things stand

Mo’s priority is to stay – but not at current conditions. Let’s see Liverpool next move.”

Mohamed Salah Not Accepting Current Liverpool Offer

As Things Stand

Salah evidently wants to stay with Liverpool, and why wouldn’t he? At Anfield, he’s won a number of major trophies and become regarded as one of the best football players on the planet. The main issue, as of now, appears to be his wages.

We’re seeing an increasing trend in players making moves from club to club on free transfers, with the benefit of getting higher salaries. This current report reads as Mohamed Salah and his agent sensing the chance to put Liverpool under pressure to increase the amount they pay the Egyptian star.

Irreplaceable

This is certainly a bold move from Salah’s representatives but it’s one that they have room to make.

Liverpool know that Salah is essentially irreplaceable and that a number of other teams will happily offer him the world if he is available. It’s not every day that a player who has scored 152 goals in 237 games is suddenly on offer for free after all.  No doubt a number of top teams in Europe would be happy to offer Salah everything he wants to get him on their side.

Is Mohamed Salah Staying or Going?

It still seems likely Mohamed Salah will remain at Liverpool. The fact that he wants to stay combined with his importance to the team makes it probable that he’ll re-up with the team. This current report is part of the give and pull of contract negotiations and will no doubt spur Liverpool to improve their offer to the goalscoring machine.
