Manchester City Pull Away From the Competition With Massive Leap in Their Erling Haaland Pursuit

Erling Haaland Pursuit

Manchester City’s Erling Haaland pursuit looks like it may well be successful as they take the lead in the race for his signature.

Reports have come out recently revealing that Haaland has discussed personal terms with the Citizens and is now expected to join Pep Guardiola’s team.

Erling Haaland is currently at Dortmund but has a £63 million release clause. Including agent and signing on fees, it is expected that the Norwegian will cost in the range of £100 million.

Haaland’s father, Alf-Inge played for City between 2000-2003 and is very fond of the club.

However, many other top clubs in world football are in pursuit of the talented striker. With the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Paris St Germain monitoring him closely.

It was reported earlier this week that Haaland was expected to make his decision in the immediate future.

Despite the heavy interest from these clubs, according to Craig Hope and Jack Gaughan of the Daily Mail, Haaland is increasingly more likely to accept a move to the Premier League champions.

No More Striker Dilemma for Manchester City.

If Haaland opts to join Guardiola and Co at the Etihad, he will not be the only new young striker at the club.

In January it was announced that City had secured the signature of Argentinian talent Julian Alvarez from River Plate.

The 22-year-old is set to join City in July with Guardiola more than looking forward to Alvarez being a part of his squad.

Speaking to Argentinian football podcast Olé, Guardiola said: “If we (Manchester City) sign him (Julian Alvarez), it is to have him with us.

“There is a fundamental question: we believe that he is a player for us.

“Julian smells like goals and goals are worth money.

“At City, they saw him as an opportunity for the future.

“In the next pre-season he will be with us.

“I see him on TV, but I want to see him on the grass with his teammates.

“If we weren’t convinced, we wouldn’t have bought him.

“We want him yes or yes. The reports we have are exceptional. He moves in short spaces and how he finishes is something very difficult to find.”

It is safe to say that if Guardiola gets both his men, he will be determined to find a way to fit both of them into his system.

Barcelona Falling Behind in Erling Haaland Pursuit

Before the news of City’s breakthrough with Haaland, it looked like Barcelona were in a very good position in the race to sign the former RB Salzburg striker.

Earlier this week it was rumoured that Haaland could find a move to the Camp Nou appealing. Xavi also seemed positive when asked about transfers.

Although there are reliable claims reporting that City are set to sign the forward, not everybody is convinced, with Norwegian journalist Jan Aage Fjortoft, who is known to have close sources to the player, claiming that there have been no new developments in this ongoing transfer saga.
