Sven Botman States Intent to Move in the Summer
Confirmed Interest From Newcastle United and AC Milan
Lille picked up the Dutch defender after he came through the notoriously strong Ajax Academy. Botman was then a fixture in the side for their double-winning season in 2020/21. At just 22 he has shown an ability to compete at the highest level, a quality that will always attract the eyes of bigger clubs. In an interview with Ziggo Sport Botman confirmed as much “I can confirm both Newcastle United and AC Milan were concrete options this winter. Both were good options for me.” He followed this up by confirming that he is likely to make a move in the summer ” I assume that I will take a good step in my career next summer”.
Keeping Options Open
Notably, Botman kept all doors open in this interview by making sure to compliment both Newcastle and AC Milan “Everyone says about Newcastle: it’s all about money. But it’s a very nice project, if you look at where Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain started. I think it would be very nice to be part of that, but of course, Milan is a beautiful club.”
Botman seems ready to make a major move but hasn’t made up his mind. While Newcastle, who are certainly building something interesting, and a team with the history of AC Milan are attractive options, there will likely be no shortage of suitors for the young defender’s services in the summer.
