Transfer Could Be Confirmed before Window Shuts for Saido Berahino
The 28-year old has, of course, previously played in the country having featured for Stoke City, West Bromwich Albion, Peterborough United, Brentford and Northampton Town.
His best spell came with the Baggies, where he appeared in just over 120 games for the side and bagged 36 goals along the way.
However, he was then sold on to the Potters, where he struggled to reach the same heights. He managed only five goals in 56 games and was subsequently flogged to Zulte Waregem in Belgium.
Solid Start for Zulte Waregem
After getting off to a solid start for the side, he was shipped out on loan to Sporting Charleroi and then returned to his parent club.
Now, after some time away from England, it looks like he may be about to make a return to the country he grew up in, with a move to Sheffield Wednesday now completed.
The deal sees the striker leave Waregem permanently.
He’s played in four games for his current club so far this campaign but has yet to get his name on the scoresheet. However, this could be down to his lack of actual action – despite playing in four fixtures, Saido Berahino has only actually played 62 minutes of football so far.
The player himself will be hoping that the move to Wednesday will offer him much more regular first-team football – and then Berahino himself could potentially bag goals on a much more regular basis like he did with his former club West Brom.
