Manchester City defender Ruben Dias has signed a new six-year contract at the club, which will see him through to the summer of 2027.
Dias only joined the club last summer from Benfica, but a stellar first season in the Premier League has seen him sign a bumper new deal.
His exemplary performances, particularly alongside John Stones, in his maiden campaign saw Dias win the Premier League Player of the Season award.

A ‘Pleasure’ to Be at City
Upon signing his new contract, Dias told the club website: “I’m very happy to sign the new deal. I have enjoyed every single minute of my time at City since joining last year.
“Playing for City has surpassed all my expectations and it’s an absolute pleasure to be part of such an incredible squad.
“I would also like to thank Pep and the coaching staff for the way they have helped me to develop as a player and keep pushing me to improve.
“To be part of the squad that achieved so much last season was incredible and made us all hungry to achieve even more.
“Now I just want to try and play my part in helping us be successful this season and beyond.”
Delighted to extend my stay after a great first year in Manchester.
Thank you to everyone who has made me feel so at home.

A First Season to Remember
Dias joined Manchester City last summer from Portuguese side Benfica and enjoyed an excellent first season in the Premier League.
He made 50 appearances in all competitions as City won the Premier League and the Carabao Cup, as well as reaching their first-ever Champions League final.
The centre-back, as well as winning the Premier League Player of the Season award, also won the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year, the Etihad Player of the Season award and during last week’s Champions League draw, he was nominated as the Defender of the Season for the 2020/21 edition of the tournament.
His partnership with John Stones also helped to revitalise the career of his fellow defender, after it appeared that he would be on his way out of the club. Now, though, the future of Aymeric Laporte has been in doubt because of the pair’s performances.
