Rumours surrounding the future of Daniel James have been rife over the course of the past few days and now it looks like the winger could be on his way to Leeds United on a permanent basis, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Daniel James in Talks Over Permanent Switch to Leeds United
Leeds United Linked With Daniel James over Last Few Days
The player has played twice for Manchester United so far this campaign and has proven to be a useful squad option over the last few seasons for the Red Devils. Last campaign he featured 15 times but still managed to bag three goals and one assist (averaging 0.40 goals or assists per 90, a fine record for the youngster).
However, with the news that United have agreed a deal to bring Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford, it has left the 23-year old further down the pecking order. Rather than keep him and leave him on the bench, it looks like the club are ready to let him leave in search of regular football.
Loan Deal Initially Looked Likely
It initially seemed like a deal to any other side would be on a short-term basis. However, these reports are claiming that Leeds are ready to bring the player to Elland Road permanently.
The winger has been linked with a move to their fellow Premier League side but it looked like it would only be a loan. It seems that the deal may be more long-term though, with discussions believed to be ongoing between the player and the club over a permanent switch.
He is certainly a solid option in the top tier. He’s played in 50 Premier League games over the course of his career despite his young age and has bagged 13 goal contributions along the way.
James has never really featured for United as a first-team regular but when he’s been called upon to do a job off the bench or when the squad has been rotated, he often looks quick and has proven that he knows where the back of the net is.
Leeds could be set to try and bolster their squad even more by adding James to their side. If they can seal a deal, it would be another superb option for the club to have in their squad.
