West Ham United are interested in signing Spartak Moscow midfielder Alex Kral, reports The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath. The 23-year-old is contracted at the Russian club until 2024 but West Ham are keen to add to the Czech contingent they currently have.
Alex Kral Among West Ham Options
Czech Success
David Moyes already has two Czech Republic players in his squad in the form of Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal. Both have become fan favourites since their respective arrivals from Slavia Prague, the club Kral played for before joining Spartak.
Soucek, despite being a defensive midfielder, has a handy knack for scoring important goals. He scored ten in 38 games last season as the Hammers qualified for the Europa League. That tally was the same as his teammate Michail Antonio and also equal to that of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Raheem Sterling and Edinson Cavani.
Coufal, meanwhile, has put in some excellent displays at right-back and enjoyed an impressive debut season in the Premier League.
West Ham’s success with Czech players recently is something they are keen to capitalise on, hence the interest in Kral.
Interest for Other Positions
McGrath reports that there are two other names currently on West Ham’s shortlist too.
Senegalese striker Abdallah Sima, who currently plays for Slavia Prague, is of interest to David Moyes. The 20-year-old joined Slavia from MAS Taborsko in 2020 and enjoyed an impressive first season in a senior set-up, scoring 11 goals in 22 games as Slavia went on to win the league.
The forward has also made two appearances for the Senegal national team, with his debut coming in March of this year in an AFCON qualifier against Congo.
As well, Moyes is said to be interested in Middlesbrough full-back Djed Spence.
The Hammers are not alone in their interest in the 20-year-old, though, as he is also on the radar of Everton and Norwich City.
