The future of Olivier Giroud looks rather uncertain once again, and according to Tashan Deniran-Alleyne of Football.London, the Chelsea frontman’s agent has suggested that there is widespread interest in his services.
The 34-year-old has 11 goals to his name this season in a mere 1200 minutes of action. Giroud has dropped down the pecking order since Timo Werner’s arrival and has seen even less game time since the appointment of Thomas Tuchel.
Olivier Giroud’s Future Remains Uncertain With Plenty of Interest Elsewhere
Olivier Giroud’s Future Remains Complicated But There Will Not Be a Shortage of Offers
The striker’s agent, Vincenzo Morabito, revealed how close the Frenchman was to leaving Stamford Bridge in January and spoke of the meetings that he and his colleague Michael Manuello had in Italy: “Manuello and I met with AC Milan at the end of the January transfer window.” He told Calciomercato.
“They confirmed how highly they rate Giroud, although they said they were considering younger players for their attack.
“However, we remained in contact with them and we will see what happens in the future. We spoke with both Juventus and with Roma when they thought Edin Dzeko would leave for Inter Milan.
“Now Manuello is weighing up various offers for Giroud. Three have come in from English clubs. But there are also interesting situations for him in Spain and Germany.”
Giroud Continues to Prove That Age is Just a Number
Giroud has been performing at the highest level domestically and internationally for several years, and whilst his age may act as a deterrent for some, he seemingly still has more to offer.
Pace has never been an associated element of his game, but his aerial presence, strength, and knack for scoring goals, all remain areas that have not diminished with age.
Despite his lack of game time, he has still shone in England and Europe. Over the years, he has remained a reliable source of goals in a constantly improving Premier League and will be an excellent attacking option for the majority of European clubs.
