Bayer Leverkusen have announced Young Boys manager Gerardo Seoane will become the club’s new head coach at the end of the season.
Seoane will be the official replacement for Peter Bosz who was sacked in March after a poor run of form both domestically and on the European stage. Hannes Wolf has overseen the team and will bow out of his caretaker role after this weekend’s final league game against Borussia Dortmund.
Seoane arrives fresh off collecting his second Swiss Super League title with Young Boys. He has signed a contract at Leverkusen which will run until 2024.

Seoane Arrives After Three Successful Years at Young Boys
Seoane has spent all of his career in his home nation of Switzerland both as a player and manager. He played for the likes of Luzern, Grasshoppers and Sion. Seoane moved into coaching and began his career at Luzern taking charge of several youth teams before getting the main job in 2018.
He guided Luzern to third place in his sole season in charge before taking over Young Boys. He replaced current Eintracht Frankfurt manager Adi Hutter at Young Boys and continued the success Hutter started.
Seoane has won two league titles in both seasons in charge. He also led the club to the Swiss domestic double in the 2019/20 season and also guided the club to the Champions League group stage for the first time in their history.
Seoane will inherit a Bayer Leverkusen side who will finish sixth in the Bundesliga. Leverkusen will finish sixth after a strong finish to the season under caretaker manager Hannes Wolf. Die Werkself have collected 12 points from Wolf’s seven matches in charge.
The club will compete in the Europa League next season but Seoane will be tasked with creating a winning team capable of challenging for Champions League football.
Leverkusen’s new coach plays exciting, on the edge attacking football. His credentials speak for themselves but certainly, this will be a challenge for the little-known coach. He fits the profile of manager Leverkusen like to appoint. He will be given the tools to build a vibrant, attacking team.

Bayer Leverkusen have become the latest side to announce a new manager for the 2021/22 season. As it stands six of the Bundesliga’s top eight will start next season with new managers. Some due to their manager joining a Bundesliga rival.
Bayern Munich will start next season under the leadership of Julian Naglesmann with his current side RB Leipzig appointing Jesse Marsch as his replacement.
Marco Rose is swapping Borussia Monchengladbach for Borussia Dortmund. While Adi Hutter is moving to Borussia Monchengladbach leaving the Eintracht Frankfurt position vacant. The Eagles continue to source candidates with Hutter’s official replacement yet to be confirmed.
Gerardo Seoane’s appointment at Bayer Leverkusen is the latest arrival in this amazing Bundesliga managerial merry-go-round. It is set to be a fascinating campaign when the new season starts in August.
