Large Coup for Watford if They Land Kwadwo Baah
If they did manage to seal a deal to bring him to Vicarage Road, it could be seen as a rather big statement of intent from the club and a bit of a coup.
Baah may only be young but he’s already been drawing attention from clubs a lot bigger and a lot further up the football pyramid. For example, Manchester City have been sniffing around the 18-year old according to the Manchester Evening News and were hopeful of trying to seal a deal for him back in January.
However, they couldn’t reach an agreement for his signature and, having missed out on signing the player on transfer deadline day, there are now several other teams competing with them for his signature.
Guardiola Has an Eye for Talent
If any manager in the game knows a young talent when he sees one, then it’s certainly Pep Guardiola. If there’s interest from him, then he and the rest of the City team must see potential in him.
If that’s the case and Watford do manage to pull off a deal, then it could therefore end up being an astute signing for the Hornets.
Perhaps one of the draws of a move to Watford over City would be the potential for more frequent gametime. Although the Manchester club have a good track record of getting the best out of youngsters and managing their progression well, it’s likely that he’d either spend a few seasons out on loan to gain experience or would be consigned to reserve football for the time being.
Watford Could Provide More First-Team Action for Kwadwo Baah
Watford, on the other hand, could provide more of a chance for frequent action now. Baah may be young but age is irrelevant if he has the talent. If Given the chance in the first-team and the Premier League for the club, he could take the chance with both hands and prove he deserves to be a first-team regular in the here and now.
This season, Baah has started only 13 games but he’s been impressive on those occasions. The talent is there for all to see, as he has contributed three goals and two assists to his side from the forward position.
Rochdale in a League One Relegation Fight
That’s despite Rochdale being embroiled in a League One relegation battle to boot. Imagine what he could provide for a club who could offer him more chances and allow him to flourish more frequently.
It could prove to be a big step up to Watford if he was to take the leap and join the side. His first taste of football for the club might very well come in the Premier League with them, two tiers higher than where he is currently.
But, if Watford can handle him carefully and allow the player to thrive, then he could prove to become one of their most creative and talented players. The potential is there, but so is the pressure.
