Brooke Chaplen has signed a new contract extension at Reading, which commits her future to the club until June 2022.
Brooke Chaplen Signs New Reading Deal
Brooke Chaplen Has Had a Frustrating Season
Chaplen arrived in Berkshire from Sunderland in 2017 and has previously played for Portsmouth, Everton and Chelsea, representing England up to U23 level.
She has missed a large part of the current Women’s Super League season due to illness but did score in a 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur on November 7.
Manager Kelly Chambers told the club website: “I am very excited to keep Brooke at Reading. Brooke has had a huge impact at the club, and she has been truly missed on the pitch this season. Brooke is a player that has a clear understanding of the way we play and that has shown in her previous season records.
“It’s been an extremely frustrating season for Brooke, but she is working really hard to return and is doing really well, I can’t wait to have her back.”
The news comes after Grace Moloney signed a new two-year contract extension on February 16, which keeps the Republic of Ireland shot-stopper with the Royals until June 2023.
Reading Sit Sixth in the Table
Reading currently sit sixth in the table with 19 points from 15 games and sit one place below Everton in the table, albeit having played two games more than the Toffees.
They drew 1-1 with the Merseyside club in their last match, as Rachel Rowe’s opener was cancelled out by Nicoline Sorensen.
The Royals are in the midst of an inconsistent run of form, having won just one of their last five games, drawing three and losing one.
They return to Women’s Super League action on March 7 when they face bottom club Bristol City at Twerton Park.
