Greenock Morton add Tottenham Hotspur striker Kazaiah Sterling on loan
Returning From Southend United Loan
Sterling returned to north London on January 5 following the expiration of his loan deal at League Two side Southend United and has now headed north of the border for more game time in Scotland’s second tier.
Morton interim manager Anton McElhone told gmfc.net: “I am delighted Kazaiah has signed for us. He is a pacey sharpshooter who can get behind defences and will bring energy to the team.”
The 22-year-old made 12 appearances during his loan spell with the Shrimpers and scored once in a 6-1 defeat to Colchester United in an EFL Trophy match.
Sterling Has Made Two Tottenham Hotspur Senior Appearances
The striker has also scored two goals in five Premier League 2 appearances for Tottenham Hotspur’s U23 side this campaign, most recently finding the back of the net in a 5-1 victory away at Brighton & Hove Albion on January 15.
He has two first-team appearances for Spurs and made his senior debut in a 3-0 win over APOEL Nicosia in a Champions League group stage fixture back in December 2017.
His most recent outing for the senior side was in a 2-0 Premier League defeat to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on January 27 2019.
Fourth Loan Move for Sterling
The move to Morton is Sterling’s fourth temporary move away from Spurs following loan moves to Sunderland, Doncaster Rovers and Leyton Orient.
Sterling has also represented England at youth-team level, after featuring for his country’s U17 and U18 sides.
Brandon Pierrick Swaps Crystal Palace for Kilmarnock
Meanwhile, another Premier League youngster has made the move to Scotland, as Brandon Pierrick joined Scottish Premiership side Kilmarnock from Crystal Palace on a loan deal for the remainder of the season.
