Preston North End are already on the hunt for a Ben Davies replacement and it could be Liam Lindsay from Stoke City, according to the Lancashire Evening Post.
Liam Lindsay Set For Preston Loan Switch
Ben Davies Joining Liverpool on a Permanent Basis
Davies has been linked with a sensational switch to Liverpool and, with the move having come completely out of thin air, it has left North End needing to sign a replacement for him before the window comes to a close.
Despite sources claiming that Sepp van den Berg is heading to Deepdale on loan as part of a deal to send Davies to Anfield, it appears Alex Neil wants to cover his own back and ensure that they have plenty of options defensively.
Lindsay is the reported target in terms of another centre-back signing for Preston and he too would be on loan. The 25-year-old has struggled since his move to Stoke and he’s featured just four times for the club this campaign so far.
Impressive During Stints At Barnsley and Patrick Thistle
Neil rates his fellow Scot highly though and if he can emulate the kind of performances that he put in during his Patrick Thistle and Barnsley days, then he could prove to be a valuable signing for North End.
He was a first-team regular for Barnsley during his time there and accumulated over 80 appearances for them in both the Championship and then in League One as they were relegated.
Stoke Happy to Let Liam Lindsay Leave On Loan to Preston
He caught the eye of Stoke, who were quick to snap him up but after failing to impress for the Potters, it seems he could now be available on a short-term deal and boss Alex Neil is willing to take a punt on the centre-back.
If he does agree to a deal, it will be Preston’s fourth loan signing of the transfer window so far, and with Van den Berg potentially incoming, they look set to fill their quota of loan deals.
