Nyland Signs Contract With Norwich Until the End of the Season
Ørjan Nyland has joined Norwich as a free agent, signing a contract until the end of the current season.
Nyland most recently starred for Aston Villa in the club’s Premier League promotion winning campaign in 2018/19.
The 30-year-old will be hoping to provide the experience required for the Championship leaders to get over the line.
Searching for Regular Football at Norwich
After the signing of Emiliano Martinez from Arsenal, Nyland fell out of favour at Aston Villa.
The Norwegian made one appearance in the 2020/21 League Cup, before departing Villa through mutual consent in October.
It is expected that Nyland will provide back-up to regular number one Tim Krul.
Nyland Happy to Be at Carrow Road
Speaking to Norwich after completing his move, Nyland expressed his happiness at signing for the Canaries:
“I’ve had a lot of offers but when Norwich came along I wasn’t doubtful at all.
“It was an easy choice really.”
Norwich boss, Daniel Farke echoed those sentiments:
“Orjan (Nyland) has proved he can play at both Championship and Premier League level.
“He has the personality and quality to help us both in the short term and potentially the long term.
Nyland will wear the number 12 at Carrow Road.
The signing certainly seems a smart one from the Canaries when considering their injury problems this season. Now, with Nyland in, they can happily continue their pursuit for promotion back to the Premier League- one season on from relegation. The signs certainly look positive, now they must find consistency.
