Elche are trying to bring Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga to the club before the transfer deadline shuts, according to Football.London.
Elche Want to Bring Paulo Gazzaniga to Spain
Fallen Down the Pecking Order at Tottenham
The shot-stopper has yet to play a league game for Spurs this season and his chances for first-team football seem more and more unlikely in North London.
He’s fallen down the goalkeeping pecking order at the club and if the 29-year-old wants to play on a more regular basis, he may have to leave the club in pursuit of that first-team football.
Elche are ready to offer it him and Spurs are prepared to let him go, with the Premier League side well covered in the goalkeeping area.
More First-Team Football in Spain with Elche
The Spanish side are hoping to try and tie a deal up for the Argentine before the window shuts and the player himself would no doubt welcome a move away if it means more action in between the sticks for him.
He’s played for Spurs over the course of the last three seasons and has racked up a total of 22 league appearances for the English side. He’s been resigned to finding football when he can, usually when Spurs’ first-choice shot-stopper is out of action.
Paulo Gazzaniga Offers Elche Experience
Elche though presents the chance for him to try and establish himself as a number one again and get regular action every week.
He’s experienced enough to be one, that’s for sure. He’s played in Spain before for Rayo Vallecano and Spurs aren’t his only experience of English football, with Gazzaniga having also played for Southampton (although he made one less league appearance for the Saints despite being there for longer). He’s also experienced the lower leagues of English football, playing a season at Gillingham as a young 19-year-old.
Gazzaniga now though, with all of this experience under his belt, could be ready to head to Spain and become the number one shot-stopper for Spanish side Elche.
