West Bromwich Albion’s Cedric Kipre Will now not be joining Preston North End this month, according to a report from George Hodgson of LancsLive.
Preston North End Won’t Sign Defender Cedric Kipre
Preston Want a New Centre-Back
The defender has been heavily linked with a move to Deepdale since the news that the club wanted to bring in another centre-back.
Kipre was believed to be one of North End’s top targets in that position and it seemed as if a deal for the player was close. However, these reports now suggest that a deal for Kipre is off.
The 24-year-old has not featured in a single league game for the Baggies so far this season and needs game time if he wants to continue to improve as a player.
More Regular First-Team Football
Preston would have provided him with the chance to play in the centre of defence on a more regular basis in the Championship. However, are now not in the running to sign Kipre so unless he joins another team soon, he’ll stay at the Baggies for the remainder of the campaign.
Kipre impressed for Wigan Athletic in the Championship, despite the Latics being relegated to League One during his time there. It prompted West Brom to bring him to the Hawthorns but he has so far failed to make an impact.
Kipre has also featured in Scotland for Motherwell and originally played for Leicester City, although he didn’t make an appearance for the Foxes before he left to make the move to Scotland, where he became a regular first-team player for the Scottish Premiership side.
Preston No Longer in Running for West Brom’s Cedric Kipre
The only team now that appears to potentially be in the running for the defender is Blackburn Rovers who were linked with the player alongside North End. Whether they will tie up a deal for the player before the window closes remains to be seen or whether they too will let the player stay at West Brom.
