Blackburn Rovers Set to Sign Manchester City Youngster Taylor Harwood-Bellis on Loan

Blackburn Rovers are close to signing Manchester City defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis on loan for the rest of the season according to The Athletic’s Sam Lee.

Harwood-Bellis is set to spend the rest of the campaign with promotion-chasing Blackburn in the Championship.

Tony Mowbray has been looking for defensive reinforcements throughout this transfer window and it appears Harwood-Bellis’ arrival is imminent.

Harwood-Bellis Has Made a Handful of Appearances Under Pep Guardiola

The young centre back is highly thought off at Manchester City. He has made a few senior appearances for City in cup competitions. His most recent was City’s FA Cup fourth-round win against League Two Cheltenham Town.

He is set to spend the rest of the season in the Championship with Blackburn. Rovers should have beaten off competition from Brentford to snap up the defender. Harwood-Bellis will be the second City defender in recent times to go out on loan to Blackburn, following in the footsteps of Tosin Adarabioyo, who enjoyed a productive loan spell at Ewood Park.

Blackburn’s persistence has paid off with the defender high on their list of targets. He will be the second defender to join Rovers in this window after Rovers loaned Jarrod Branthwaite from Everton.

Where Can Harwood-Bellis Play?

He is predominantly a right-back but can also play at the heart of the defence. His versatility could be an important factor for Rovers going into a busy second half of the season.

City have bided their time with Harwood-Bellis’ future. With Eric Garcia not departing in this transfer window, City are allowing Harwood-Bellis to get some game time and enhance his football education. He may not be the only youngster to head out on loan.

Jayden Braaf and Tommy Doyle could also exit the Etihad Stadium before the window closes on Monday.
