Cheltenham Town have boosted their attack for the remainder of the season with the signings of Sam Smith and Indiana Vassilev.
Both arrive on loan for the rest of the season and become the Robins first two signings in this transfer window.
Smith arrives from Reading while Vassilev joins from Aston Villa.
Cheltenham Town Sign Sam Smith and Indiana Vassilev on Loan
Smith Spent the First Half of the Season at Tranmere Rovers
The Reading youngster is no stranger to spending time out on loan. This will be his fifth loan in the EFL as Reading look to enhance his football education and give him the game time he needs.
Smith spent the first half of this season with Tranmere Rovers but managed just five appearances and left them when his loan expired in early January. A move to Cheltenham offers him a great opportunity to get some game time and help the Robins in their quest for promotion.
Speaking about his new signing, manager Michael Duff said: “He is a player we have known about for a while. He did well against us last year when he was at Cambridge.
“He has experience of the level and has physicality and pace to run in behind.”
Smith is available to make his debut in Cheltenham’s crucial derby clash with Forest Green Rovers tomorrow.
Indiana Vassilev Also Joins the Robins
As well as signing Sam Smith, Cheltenham have also confirmed the arrival of Aston Villa youngster Indiana Vassilev.
The United States international spent the first half of the season in League One at Burton Albion. He is a youngster highly thought of at Villa Park and someone they want to go out and get some games.
Vassilev made 12 appearances in League One for the Brewers but none under new manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.
Again, like Smith, Vassilev is available for their clash with Forest Green.
