Leicester City approached Real Madrid over signing Martin Odegaard on loan this transfer window, according to reports.
Leicester Asked About Martin Odegaard Transfer Deal
Impressive at Real Sociedad
The midfielder was impressive last season while on loan at Real Sociedad and was widely expected to return to his parent club and feature more regularly.
However, the Real Madrid man has struggled to play games for the La Liga club and he could again be sent out on a short-term basis this month – and Leicester were keen on the player.
The Foxes reportedly asked Madrid about a potential deal for Odegaard but, as Leicestershire Live claims, they may have asked about a deal but they won’t be pursuing one.
Instead, Brendan Rodgers will be looking elsewhere in his search for midfielders this month and also leaves the door open for Odegaard to move elsewhere.
Odegaard Also Impressed for Vitesse and Heerenveen in Eredivisie
The 22-year-old had a tremendous season with Real Sociedad during his last loan spell. He featured 36 times for the club with 16 goal contributions and lit up the league with his showings.
This year though, he has featured just five times for Madrid. It isn’t enough game time for the player and he is now on the lookout to get regular playing time again.
Before his stint at Sociedad, he featured 31 times in the league for Vitesse as a 19-year-old. During that season, he bagged a tremendous 18 goal contributions – a superb return for a young talent.
Odegaard also had a loan spell at Heerenveen, where he played in 43 games over 18 months.
These experiences as a youngster have helped the player to continue to improve and has ultimately led to him being hot property in football now. He has yet to test himself in the Premier League and this transfer window could be the chance for him to finally try his luck in England on a short-term loan deal at a club.
