Not High on Pecking Order at Preston
The attacking midfielder has struggled for regular action at Deepdale due to being both a player that is low down in the pecking order and because of injuries.
A move to the Tractor Boys will give the former Manchester United man a chance to play more regularly and perhaps hit the heights that many expected of him.
Harrop has played regularly for Preston in the Championship, playing in a total of 83 league games for North End since joining them in the second tier.
This season, however, has only seen him feature a handful of times. He has made eight appearances for Alex Neil’s side so far this season, registering just one goal and one assist. Harrop’s last appearance for the Lancashire-based side came on Boxing Day, where he came on as a substitute in a 1-0 win over Derby County.
Started Just 31 League Games Since Move to Deepdale
However, the midfielder has started just 31 times for the Lilywhites in the Championship during that time and needs more regular first-team football – which he should get with Ipswich.
He’s was comfortable in the second tier, something that will be good news for fans of the Tractor Boys – if he can play well in the Championship, then surely he should play even better in the third tier of English football.
He joins the side on a short-term deal until the end of the season and the player himself shall be desperate to prove he has what it takes to perform on a regular basis.
