Jay Fulton Pens New Swansea City Contract

Fulton Commits Future to Swansea

The former Scotland U21 international, whose previous deal was set to expire at the end of the season, has been a key part of Swansea’s strong first half of the season in the Championship. Swansea lie in second place in the English second tier and are set for a strong promotion push. With goalkeeper Ben Hamer already signed this January and Jordan Morris to join from Seattle Sounders to bolster the attack, Fulton’s contract extension comes at a busy time for the Swans.

Fulton has played 19 Championship games for Swansea so far in the 2020/21 season, scoring one goal. However, he is a vital component of their midfield and losing him in the summer for free would have been a huge blow.

Steve Cooper Delighted With Fulton

Swansea boss Steve Cooper couldn’t be happier with Fulton, who has formed a strong midfield partnership with club captain Matt Grimes. Speaking to Swansea’s website, Cooper said: “For me, Jay is in really good form.

“We’re only halfway there so we’re only looking forward but, I’ve got to tell you, I think he’s contributed an awful lot this season.

“I can’t tell you how professional he is. He’s the ultimate team player or squad member if you like. He’s always put everything else before him, a selfless individual.”

In total, Fulton has made 122 appearances for the south Wales side, scoring eight goals in that time. He will be a key component of a Swansea side looking to secure a return to the Premier League.
