Huddersfield Town Close to Deal for Derby County’s Duane Holmes

Huddersfield Town are close to completing a deal to bring Duane Holmes to the club according to reports.

Duane Holmes Close to Completing Huddersfield Move

The Midfielder Has Previously Played for Huddersfield

The 26-year-old has previously played for the Terriers but only featured 22 times in the three seasons he was at the club before being sold to Scunthorpe United.

After impressing for the League Two side, he was snapped up by Derby County, where he has continued to go from strength to strength.

He featured in 33 games for the Rams last season but this year he has been limited to a total of just seven starts in the league for the side so far.

New boss Wayne Rooney may be willing to part with the player it seems, with the Rams and Huddersfield now reportedly agreeing a fee to send him back to his former club.

Player is a Free Agent in the Summer

Holmes is a free agent in the summer, with his contract at Pride Park set to expire at the end of the campaign. It means that, if he truly isn’t a part of Rooney’s plans, he needs to cash in on the player while he can – and it looks like the boss is doing just that.

The central midfielder, who has also had stints at Yeovil Town and Bury, could be just the signing for Carlos Corberan, who wants some new recruitments in the centre of the field for his side during this transfer window.

Huddersfield Set to Sign Duane Holmes After Medical is Completed

The United States man has bags of Championship experience having played frequently for the Rams since his move there and has also proven he can cut it at this level. Huddersfield then will get a player who is ready to go and make an impact for the Terriers as soon as he completes a deal to join them – all that is left for the player is the medical and then he shall be a Town player.
