Striker Will Keane has re-joined Wigan Athletic on a deal until the end of the season following the expiration of his short-term deal at the club on 9th January. The 28-year-old twin brother of Everton defender Michael Keane has been in good form for the League One side so far this season with five goals in 12 appearances in all competitions and a deal until the summer provides a low-risk solution for the Latics.

Keane’s Career
Keane was released by Ipswich Town in May 2020, with the club opting against triggering a year extension to his deal. It wasn’t until 9th October that the former Manchester United striker signed the three-month deal at Wigan and fans will be pleased to see this extended further.
Wigan have been through financial turmoil recently and find themselves sat 23rd in the third tier almost eight years on from winning the FA Cup and being relegated from the Premier League in the same season. They will be hoping that Keane’s goals can help secure safety and prevent a drop to England’s fourth tier.
Keane has had his fair share of injury troubles in his career and was once tipped to be the next big thing coming out of Manchester United’s famed academy. He will be desperate to revive his career and firing Wigan to safety could go some way to doing that.
Whether he stays at Wigan beyond this season remains to be seen and is likely to be influenced heavily by the division in which the club find themselves in.
