Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero could miss the clubs next two Premier League matches after the Argentine was forced to self-isolate.
The 32-year-old was due to make his first start since October in the Citizen’s FA Cup match against Birmingham City but was forced to miss out having come into close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19.

Despite testing negative, Sergio Aguero has been forced to enter a ten-day self-isolation period after he came into close contact with someone who later tested positive.
Speaking after his sides 3-0 win over Birmingham in the FA Cup, manager Pep Guardiola said: “Unfortunately Sergio Aguero was in contact, more than usual, with a person who is (COVID-19) positive so he isolates for a few days.
“He is negative and he is negative now too, but the protocol says if we have been in contact we have to isolate.”
Getting Aguero back has been important for City. The striker missed the end of the last season, including the Champions League run, and the start of the new campaign following knee surgery.
Although he has made a comeback, the Argentine has also been blighted by injury this season. As a result, he has managed two goals from just nine appearances.
Manchester City Through to FA Cup Fourth Round With Win Over Birmingham
Without Aguero, Manchester City eased into the fourth round of the FA Cup with a 3-0 win over Birmingham City.
A brace from Bernardo Silva was added to by Phil Foden to give Guardiola’s side a comfortable half time lead. Although they didn’t add to the scoreline, it was an easy afternoon for the Citizens.
COVID at Manchester City
Although Aguero tested negative, Manchester City have been heavily affected by the coronavirus. On Christmas Day, Kyle Walker and Gabriel Jesus tested positive, while Eric Garcia returned a positive test earlier this week.
Although Walker and Jesus have returned, Guardiola is without Garcia who is still fulfilling his ten-day self-isolation.
